Quality of Life
We strive to provide the highest quality of life possible for our residents. It is our first goal to ensure personalized care and accommodations to provide the greatest amount of independence, socialization, creativity, and freedom based on the abilities and needs of each individual.
The Care team at Holly Residential works around the clock to create and implement an individualized, person-centered care plan for every resident. The whole resident — as well as the resident’s family’s wishes — are considered when tending to each resident’s unique needs. With a full range of care provided, every resident can have their medical, social, emotional and spiritual needs met — which ensures the highest quality of overall health.
Holly Residential has resident-to-staff ratios that ensure not only proper care but also time to create relationships that last forever. Integrity and sincerity in doing what is right for each resident are apparent in the quality-of-care provided every resident.
Holly Residential employs a fabulous nursing staff. From the Director of Medical Services to the newest Caregiver, overall quality is a priority and it’s noticeable. The owner, Mary Ellen Riley is a Registered Nurse and is directly involved in resident care and oversees the nursing department.
New caregivers/CNAs are assigned a mentor who helps guide them through the training process until they are comfortable and knowledgeable. Mentors continue to mentor for the remainder of employment creating an environment of continual learning and growth. With a team that includes Nurses, Shift Managers, CNAs, and Caregivers Holly Residential can say that they have a full, lively and exceptional team of care staff.
Holly Residential continues the emphasis on quality of care — in the kitchen. Three nutritious meals (and an afternoon snack) are prepared and served every day. There is a focus on fresh vegetables and fruit with every meal.
During special holidays big family style meals are prepared from scratch using choice ingredients. Each plate is prepared when the resident enters the dining room — not before — creating immediate individualized service on the spot.
The activities department works with the kitchen during the warmer months to provide ingredients from the resident’s courtyard garden for salads and side dishes.
The menu is developed and posted weekly for every resident to see. There is also a resident council meeting where meals are discussed and residents can express what they’re interested in having on the menu. Diet adaptations are made for special needs such as vegetarian diets, texture changes or substitutions for meals.
Nourishment and nutrition go hand-in-hand in this kitchen as well as ensuring proper sanitation and cleanliness. A spacious stainless-steel kitchen offers a suitable work area to prepare the family-style meals and refreshments offered daily.
The Holly Residential Activities Department is active and vibrant. With full-time activities staff in the building 7 days a week from 7am to 7pm — there is always something going on! All activities are made personal and adapted to fit each resident’s abilities and needs.
Large group, small group and 1-on-1 activities happen daily in-house as well as community activities and out-of-town field trips. Residents participating in community activities collectively average between 300-500 hours in the community each month.
Assistance with outside community services is provided. On request, residents and families are helped to discover which services they qualify for and how to access them.
Holly Residential has a dedicated team of volunteers who provide a number of services and entertainment to the residents. It is not uncommon to find outside volunteers dancing, playing the piano, singing, playing cards/board games or offering a class for the residents who don’t like to go out as often.
The Holly Residential office has cheerful staff who have been with Holly Residential for many years. The office team is efficient in setting up appointments and transportation to medical appointments. They also maintain medical records — another burden removed from resident families.
The office also manages the hiring and scheduling our awesome team members. The office is open Monday through Friday 8:00am – 4:30pm (closed for lunch between 12 and 1). The owners are in the building on a regular basis and honor an “open door” policy.
Housekeeping, Laundry, and Maintenance
Holly Residential has a clean reputation and it shows. You will notice this when you enter the building. With housekeeping and laundry staff both working 7 days a week it’s no wonder people entering the building commonly state “there’s no bad smells!”
Bedrooms and common areas are cleaned every day and deep-cleaned regularly. Floors are buffed/waxed as needed and carpets are shampooed regularly.
Our laundry staff, with in-house facilities, ensures that resident clothing is cleaned, dried, folded and put away — daily. Similarly, the building is kept in good repair with full-time maintenance staff in the building Monday through Friday.
